Air Supply Connections for Blasters

Customers occasionally inquire about the best way to connect their new Vaniman sandblaster to their air supply. The type of tubing and hardware that is being used dictates the best method of connecting the sandblaster.

1/4″ Outer Diameter (OD) Tubing

All Vaniman sandblasters include two fittings, one of which is a quick disconnect fitting for 1/4” OD tubing. All “Instant-Off” and “Master” sandblasters come with this quick disconnect already equipped. On standard units, this fitting can replace the barb fitting (from below).

1/4″ Inner Diameter (ID) Tubing

The second fitting that is included with all Vaniman sandblasters is the barb fitting for 1/4” ID tubing. All standard sandblasters come with this barb fitting attached. On “Instant-Off” and “Master” units, this fitting can replace the quick disconnect (from above). This tubing has to be secured onto the barb using a small hose clamp.

Lock Sleeve Quick Disconnect

Many industrial workshops have lock sleeve quick disconnects. All Vaniman air-line plumbing parts are standard 1/8″ fittings.  A 1/8″ nipple fitting in conjunction with a hose coupling can connect a Vaniman unit to the lock sleeve system. While Vaniman does not carry these couplings, we have provided links to products that can be purchased from McMaster-Carr.

Here is a link for 1/8″ nipples that can attach your Vaniman valve or regulator to a coupling:

There are several different standard couplings with “Industrial” being the most common:
