Vaniman’s StoneVac lineup of special application dust collectors all come with a HEPA filter cartridge on the inside. Chances are you’ve seen it before—it’s there every time you open the front door. It’s that tall white cylinder that hangs above the removable dust bin.
All our StoneVacs use the same style of cartridge to provide their incredibly fine filtration — as HEPA certification stipulates, it’s a minimum of 99.97% of all particulates down to 0.3 micron in size. The filtration technology really is impressive.
But that doesn’t mean it’s difficult to install a new one when it’s time. In fact, these were designed to be about as easy as they possibly can be to replace.
We recommend trading out the HEPA cartridge every 6 to 12 months, depending on use. Instructions for replacing the cartridge are below, both as a video and the transcribed text.

Transcript:
- Unlatch the door on the front of the StoneVac unit and remove the dust bin.
- Unscrew the wingnut at the bottom of the cartridge inside.
- Remove the metal washer, followed by the rubber washer.
- Bring the old cartridge down from the bracket and remove it.
- To install the new cartridge, remove it from the plastic bag and hold it in place around the bracket, against the plate at the top, ensuring a proper seal with the gasket on the cartridge. (Also, be sure to check the seal periodically, as the shaker motor may cause it to come loose over time.)
- Put the new rubber washer from the package and the metal washer into place, and then screw on the wingnut until secure. Make sure it’s secure, but do not overtighten it.
- Place the dust bin back in, and close and latch the front door.
